In all fairness, something the size of Gnome, X.Org, and most of the Mozilla based Gecko using browsers anyway are bound to have memory leaks and worse lurking around.
The question is how many remain to be found!
It's inevitable, that's why a code base should live ina "bugs will happen, let's make it easier to find and fix" mentality IMHO.
