I do not know if this Xorg.log will have useful information, because I did not try to use the cd drive today.


I ran fw_update and it said no changes. Tomorrow I might add an entry to fstab to see if that works. Although as mentioned in the OP, that has never been necessary before and the system has been through at least three upgrades since being installed.
