Agreed, but it becomes a trade-off, & what addresses the needs of most. Since most posts here are timely & don't age well, pointing to the most current release fits immediate needs. Many also don't want to see, or would be confused by, the content of manpages from many releases ago.
"Show me what it is today as that is all I care about..."
The focus is on the relevancy for the majority.
Again, thank you for the suggestion. As you can see, we have to balance a number of issues, target audience, & usefulness for everyone involved.
