Default

the default per user is ~/.kde

~/.kde/Autostart is what kicks off autostarting programs when the user logs into a KDE Session, KDE does have what they call 'session management' which is why you can have Amarok and such things running when you log out, then be greeted with it on next boot.

(depending on settings).

The issue of it using compiz is with how KDE figures out what WM to run, exactly how this is done can very a bit with a given installation (Fedora comes to mind although I've never used it).

If your using KDM (the kde login manager) to login rather then some thing else (GDM, XDM; gnome/x11 login managers) you can look at it's files in `kde-config --prefix`/config/kdm/ if memory serves.
