UnrealTournament (games/linux-ut) doesn't work very well with f8/2.6, a few months ago there were lots of graphics glitches, those seem to have gone but now the game slows down sometimes and reacts very sluggish ...
It works fine with fc4/2.4.
Never experienced any problems with other applications, and I suspect you probably won't be playing UT, so f8/2.6 will probably work fine for you.
But it does indicate that it's not 100% complete yet.
