My wife's gaming rig is new enough to have the UEFI crap in it, and it took me a bit to figure out how to turn off the secure boot (rather, ENABLE legacy boot). I (obviously) can't give step by step instructions, but I can say that in my case it took 2-3 knobs being turned before it allowed me to pxeboot from a non-uefi image.
