I have two usb devices connected (not sharing a hub) - the mouse and keyboard. I will go mouse-less to see if I can recreate this problem.
I have already recreated the problem with a different keyboard. That is the first thing that came to mind when the problem presented itself - try a different keyboard. USB microsoft keyboard. I have not had this problem when I 'trialed' FreeBSD and I have never had this issue when booting into debian. I have re-installed NetBSD quite a few times and the keyboard problem is always present.
The configuration is as follow. Three physical drives.
30GB SSD with a 15 GB slice for NetBSD.
120GB SSD with Debian Wheezy
320GB HDD for storage stuff.
Grub (installed from the debian installation) defaults to wheezy but I have added a manual entry in Grub to boot to NetBSD.
I will try some of your suggestions this weekend - there must be a logical explanation for this. Thank you for the suggestions.
