It depends on what you want.
If I was fixing this problem, I'd be rebuilding cvsup and ruby from source. It is most likely a version conflict.
That said, I probably wouldn't be fixing that problem. The rewrite of cvsup in c, csup, has been in the base system for a while now. Try using that. (By the look of the man page, it does not support -g, whatever that option does.)
