Unfortunately, models come & go, & given that manufacturers change a product line's components upon what they can get from their vendors, finding any particular laptop which is representative of an entire product line is also problematic. The reality is that OpenBSD doesn't support every model by every manufacturer -- especially when the developers do not have access to hardware. OpenBSD does appear to run on much mainstream hardware, although having all functionality supported isn't as common.

Although it appears that tablets may be becoming more mainstream, early models weren't, & the fact you are experiencing problems with OpenBSD is not altogether unexpected. All hardware is not equal.

If it is really important for you to get support for this particular laptop, you may be able to "push" the process by two separate methods:
  • Contact Theo stating that you would like to donate an equivalent model to a developer who would figure out what changes need to be made. You may find this objectionable given the cost, this model may no longer be available, or what is available does not exhibit the behavior you describe. If this laptop is this important to you, this method has the highest probability of resulting in the fix you want/need. Yet, it is also possible that no one is interested.
  • Contact Theo stating that you would be willing to loan your laptop in order to find out what fixes are required. This has a lower probability of any developer being interested as they want to develop, not be a support shop.
It is also recommended that you begin reading the misc@ mailing list in earnest. There are occasional comments on hardware compatibility which may shed new light on what you can do yourself.

Good luck in your quest.
