Well, if vanilla source compatibility is out.. and you're unable to make the the necessary fixes, 32-bit binary compatibility made indeed be a possibility on FreeBSD.
Someone else here might be able to confirm if it's possible, and what's required, but indeed attempting to import the keys using GnuPG would be the best solution.
