Cannot initialise Gnome with user account
Greetings,
I have successfully installed Gnome / GDM on 4.9.
GDM initialises and the login screen appears.
- I can log in as root and Gnome executes and loads.
- When I attempt to use GDM and login as user, it loads x windows - not Gnome.
I attempt to run GDM or startx within x windows - using xterm and I get the following rrrors:
startx command:
xauth: file /home/saint.serverauth.8794 does not exist
fatal server error:
Server is already active for display 0
If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.x0-lock and start over
gdm command:
WARNING: GDM file gdm-daemon-config.c: line 2041 (): Cannot run seteuid to 0: Operation not permitted
GDM file gdm-daemon-config.c: line 2041 (): Cannot run seteuid to 0: Operation not permitted
I do have a .xinitrc file in my home directory with exec gnome-session in the file.
What am I doing wrong . . . .
