CentOS and SL are both build out of RHEL SRPMS are supposed to be 100% binary compatible with RHEL releases. So, there isn't much difference between the two - what works on RHEL works on CentOS and SL and what works on CentOS also works on SL.
SL is nowhere near as popular as CentOS, I don't know why (not that it makes any difference).
CentOS6 isn't even out yet so the point is moot. Right now if u want a RHEL6 system and don't wanna pay $$ for it, SL6 is the only option.
Update: Oracle linux 6 free!? Hmm, i will have to find out more about it...
