After the last upgrade of Xorg and the problems I had, I went to the XFree site to see if it was still being developed. The last version 4.8 released in Dec 2008 says that the licenses are all MIT, X Consortium, or BSD,

I was thinking of playing around with it but got busy with other stuff...
