You could try installing FreeBSD or OpenBSD and see whether one of these BSD alternatives have problems with reading your "wd0" hard disk. Yes, I know, you would prefer to try NetBSD

But if you can tell the NetBSD folks, "hey FreeBSD works" and provide them with a FreeBSD dmesg, that could help the NetBSD developers to fix the problem...
