Thank you. As this error was included in the dmesg, it was a kernel message, and I was able to determine where it was produced: sys/kern/kern_sig.c, the kernel signal handler -- in a section of code which is executed during a core dump.
I believe that the perl process failed, and the system was unable to prooduce a .core file. From the information you have made available I cannot tell you why the process failed, nor why producing a dump of the failure also failed.
