VIA isn't an alternative architecture, they make x86 compatibles..

As ocicat mentioned, the SPARC-based Tadpole systems might be worth playing with.. another option would be the Sharp Zaurus (ARM-based).

You can find a picture of the Zaurus on the OpenBSD port page, as for the Tadpole, I'm not sure. (But I think they're expensive..)
