Well, that's not necessarily a bad thing, is it? :-)

The problem with forums is that you often have to dig through a non-negligible amount of crap to get at that golden nugget, both if you're looking for a solution, but also if you're looking for an interesting question to answer.

I'm not saying that the Q&A format is perfect, or even that Stack {Overflow,Exchange} is the perfect incarnation of it, but in spite of its flaws I've grown rather fond of it over the last few years.
