I tried 5.0RC4 recently on my d630 laptop, works/runs flawlessly, 15 seconds to login prompt, very light and fast, acpi works great, and so and so ...
The only drawback is lack of working audio and generally old audio subsystem (comparing to FreeBSD/OSS4 functionality), maybe they will work on that on the road to 6.0/5.1.
But besides audio (maybe only on my laptop) all other things works great, including 3D accelration, I really encourage to give NetBSD some test drive on you box, really great improovement.

Linux is not UNIX! Face it! It is not an insult. It is fact: GNU is a recursive acronym for “GNU's Not UNIX”.
