Could you paste in your httpd.conf and any included virtual host configs as well? If this is a new install, and that's what it sounds like at this point, it could be that in your httpd.conf there are no virtual host sections and no pointer to an included virtual host config. I'd still like to confirm that by seeing the httpd.conf.
