I was having problems with X and it crashed when I ran:
from Eterm, so I ran the full command from the terminal after boot and got it to generate an xorg.conf file successfully:

# X -config /root/xorg.conf.new
I configured everything in it for Screen 0 and my hardware and deleted everything that pertained to Screen 1 and that seemed to do the trick for me.
