It looks like you're confused, cdce(4) and vr(4) are unrelated.. it seems likely that vr0 is an embedded Ethernet controller that's you're not using.

If that is your Cable modem showing up as cdce0, then that is the interface you should try using.. can show us the output of ifconfig cdce0?

Does your Cable modem have an Ethernet port as well? if so, please use that instead of connecting it via the USB port.. this is the traditional way of doing things.

Note; in the future.. post the full output in [code][/code] blocks.

EDIT: Now that I see cdce0 may be failing upon attach, it may not be a compatible chipset.. i.e: the driver attached accidentally.. so please use the Ethernet port on your modem if available, if it is not.. seek a replacement modem from your ISP.
