Anyway, if I were you, I'd double-check my ~/.opera/operaperfs.ini just in case.

You can also just start with a new config to see if it's an Opera configuration issue or some X configuration issue. Just move ~/.opera to a new location (for example: ~/.opera.orig) and start Opera: If the fonts work, you know it's an Opera issue, if they don't, you know it's some other issue with Xorg.

You can just move ~/.opera.orig back to ~/.opera to restore your settings.

N.B. Make sure you exit opera before fiddling with ~/.opera
UNIX was not designed to stop you from doing stupid things, because that would also stop you from doing clever things.
