What exactly do you want? A colored prompt? This works fine on FreeBSD, put this in your ~/.bashrc:

PS1='\[\033[01;32m\]\u@\h\[\033[00m\]:\[\033[01;34m\]\w\[\033[00m\]\$ '
PROMPT_COMMAND='echo -ne "\033]0;${USER}@${HOSTNAME}: ${PWD/$HOME/~}\007"'
You don't really need the rest of the stuff ...
