Youtube-dl is great, but recently I’ve found myself using
cclive instead:
- It supports more sites than youtube-dl (and unlike get_flash_videos, actually works)
- It accepts youtube-dl’s “-f xx” flag (I find -f 18 provides a reasonable balance of quality versus download time on my slow DSL connection)
- It also accepts urls on stdin, which is very useful when combined with grake and umph‐prompt (see “Additional Tools” at the website).
