In lynx:
Ctrl-X i (insert file in text area)
-OR-
Ctrl-X e (use vi to edit text area, then :r filename)
Edit: oops, Ctrl-X e only works if you have the editor already defined. My bad. Hit "o" then set "editor" to vi (or whatever you prefer).
