Posts are atomic. Posts can be moved from one thread to another, but posts themselves cannot be merged together. If your concern is that all information stays together, this can/should be done at the thread level. As long as all posts made
(pertaining to a single subject...) are posted to the same thread, this should meet your goal of consolidation.
