http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPARCstation_5 claims it's based on sun4m, and runs OpenBSD/sparc.

I own an Ultra5 (which is definitely sparc64), but I don't own a SparcStation5 so I can't give you a dmesg from a SparcStation5...but all indicators seem to point to sparc and not sparc64.
