You -cannot- boot from softraid or RAIDframe volumes. Let me repeat that. You cannot boot from softraid or RAIDframe volumes.

With RAIDframe, you can have -root- on RAID.

Those who use softraid -cannot- have root on RAID, and must be satisfied with using OpenBSD's altroot feature.

(I'm a RAIDframe user, and use root on RAID. Each physical drive in a RAID array has a small non-RAID partition for boot.)
