Purchase a dual-port or quad-port PCI/PCI-X/PCIe (whichever slot you have) NIC. Intel makes some very nice dual-port and quad-port gigabit NICs, that come in low-profile form-factors, so they'll fit in half-height slots. These all use the em(4) driver.

You could also try installing a FreeBSD 7-STABLE snapshot to see if that will detect that the onboard RealTek chipset.

Check through the BIOS and see what options there are for the onboard NIC and toggle them to see if that makes a difference. With the nVidia chipsets, the onboard NIC comes with options to change how it appears (MII or Pin-Strap) that changes how the FreeBSD kernel detects it. Maybe there's something like that on this board.
