Saying that. I just checked the umsm man page and it does support the Huawei Mobile E160g which is one of the ones they offer. So there's a good chance of it working.
So I'll go with buying one once I've worked out if the IP address it's assigned is accessiable from the general internet.
I know using internet on my phone only gives me a 10.x.x.x address which I believe is private.
