Hello, and welcome. It can be difficult to diagnose interoperability issues with CUPS.

There are two log messages that I think might indicate where to look for possible problem sources.

The first error is "Splix Cannot open job".

Splix is nothing more than two conversion programs and a library of .ppd files. I assume the pstoqpdl filter can't reach out and open a spool file. I would look to permission issues first, as you were modifying them.

Later, there is a segmentation fault. But what program abended? It's not clear from the log. Perhaps more detailed logs can be produced, but I'm no longer a CUPS user so I don't have specific guidance.

Perhaps the Splix filters can be used with a different print subsystem? If so, you may be able to rule CUPS in our out as a root cause of the problem.
