Which architecture are you using? I am OpenBSD user and Linux emulator layer exist only for i386. However if you use BSD.MP kernel (for machines with more then one core) Linux applications are not stable at all.
On bsd kernel they are rock stable including Skype (see my posts) but I could not get damn Linux audio to talk to OSS.
