Question Intel High Definition Audio Stuttering

Hi,

Just lurked over here from the old bsdforums. Looking good!

I've been running 7.0-Release on a Core 2 Duo box for a while and one thing thats been bugging me is that the sound card keeps intermittently skipping and blipping when during mp3s (xmms) and videos (mplayer). The video playback is fine and doesn't seem affected.

Code:
> cat $kernelconf
device sound
device snd_hda
Code:
> cat /dev/sndstat
FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm: 32bit 2007061600/i386)
Installed devices:
pcm0: <Intel 82801I High Definition Audio Controller> at memory 0xfc100000 irq 22 [20071129_0050] [MPSAFE] (1p:2v/1r:1v channels duplex default)
I'm running a similar system at work that doesn't have any problems, the sound card is slightly different : Intel 82801G.

Any ideas? I'm sure back on 6.x with a different system there were some sysctl tunables for the HDA driver.

Cheers!
Dave
