With new 45nm AMD's tripple core Phenom X3 you can enable the 4th core using ACC (SB750 south bridge):

780G/790GX are great chipsets with great graphics and also low power consupmtion, but you will be limited to 2D with RadeonHD driver for some perios of time (propably about a year).
