As a new registered I thought I should drop a few lines here and say hello. So, Hello!
I'm a long time Mac user, but have during the years also used Linux, as a complement to my needs. But now I'm in the middle of a platform-switch
(I dont like the path they've taken) - meaning I'll use Linux as my main computer and put my OS X install on a Mac mini to keep as a fallback, in case I don't find replacements for all software (eg Photoshop… though I'm working on learning Gimp.) and to keep some work I've done there. Then my Mac Pro will go.
Still have my old G4 around, and it's working fine. And now when cleaning up a bit, I've decided to keep my G4 and make a nice *BSD server of it.
I'm thinking mailserver... or perhaps put at my neighbours as an offsite backup server (ie, fire/theft protection). The early G4's (Sawtooth) is just ≈ 9W/16W. It should land on <≈ 40W, incl disk(s).
Well, thats's the plan for now
, and to finish my new computer.
