My OpenBSD laptop is a Thinkpad x220 with an IPS display panel (easy swap out with the part purchased from eBay), 16 GB of RAM (yes, I have an i5 and yes it works just fine), a 1TB SSD in the primary bay (7mm height required) and another 1TB SSD in the mSATA port internally. I'm running the 9 cell battery and get about 7 hours of life out of it on a full charge. Works great.
