Don't punch the computer, it can't defend itself--meh, actually it can, broken glass, plastic, and metal. There are, I believe, several good pages on using fcitx in Chinese, (which I can't read). I find the easiest way to configure it is to start X, start fcitx, then stop X. At this point, it will have created a $HOME/.config/fcitx/profile file. In that file you look for your input method, (in my case, anthy) and change the False after it to True, then restart X. There is a GUI config tool but I'm not sure if OpenBSD includes it. I never looked because I was already used to the manual method I'd mentioned, and found it easier.

I've never used UIM, so I'm not familiar with it.
