It is possible during startup to select a boot device without making any BIOS changes. This would be a much easier route to take.

On my ASrock motherboard, F9 and my ASUS F8. The corrrect key usually is briefly listed at the bottom of the screen during startup..

I do not own a MAC but a websearch says the "Option" key
