OpenBSD User Survey: 10 Quick Questions
Respond to the 10 selections below as honestly as you are able. Then add up your points and see what category you fit into!
1. I use the following as my 'advanced' terminal, console, or shell on that
other operating system:
a. I don't understand what you mean. You need to make it more understandable.
b. I use the DOS Command Prompt/Shell.
c. I use Cygwin's bash, MKS's ksh, or some similar shell.
d. None of the above. I do all my real work on Linux.
e. I don't use any 'other' OS. If it ain't OpenBSD Unix, I don't need it.
2. Regarding Linux:
a. I don't understand what you mean. You need to make it more understandable.

d. I like Linux, but I'm giving OpenBSD Unix a fair chance.

3. I acknowledge that, although they are certainly not the wave of the future, SunOS, SunView, Open Look, X/Motif and Solaris are:
a. I have no idea what you mean. No more of this stupid 'survey' for me. I have better things to do. I'm outta' here!
b. Something I've read about in history books.
c. Ancestors (sort of) to Linux.
d. Predecessors (sort of) to OpenBSD Unix.

4. The shell that I primarily use is:

e. I've changed from the default Korne shell in OpenBSD to another shell (using chsh -s /usr/local/bin/new_shell_name USERNAME)
5. My OpenBSD desktop is:
a. What is a desktop?
b. Whatever comes with OpenBSD
c. I used FVWM, but tried, unsuccessfully, to switch over to {KDE, GNOME. You-fill-in-the-blank}

e. Really not important. Give me a command line!
6. The way you re-size X-windows by grabbing the corner of the window is:
a. New to me. You mean I can re-size them?
b. Convenient.
c. Very intuitive.
d. Something that drives me crazy. I always try to re-size using the sides or top or bottom and only move the silly thing.
e. As it should be in every windowed OS.
7. The virtual desktop is:
a. What is a virtual desktop?
b. Hard to use.
c. Useful. But I’d like to make a given window “visible in all desktops”.
d. Neat. I use it all the time.
e. Really not important. Give me a command line; that’s what Ctrl-Z and bg %X are for!
8. It took a while but I got these to work:
a. Nothing. OpenBSD stinks.
b. A Web browser and an xterm
c. Most of the things that I want and need
d. All of the basic things that I want and need
e. Everything thing that I want and need – even suspend and hibernate!
9. I have set up these:

10. I use X programs:
a. What? What's an X program?
b. One or two. I can't remember which ones.
c. Two or three like xlock to lock my screen and the xfe file manager.
d. Several - xfe, xpat2, xlock, and xfce4-mixer and still more
e. I run those GUI-based programs from the command line, of course!

35-45 points: Unix Weenie – Class Two. You're Unix strong, but you still have a real life.
45-50 points: Unix Weenie – 1st Class. You're the weenie's weeny. You have no life outside of the computer and you like it that way just fine. You're well known on the forums and understand that most of those other forum users are beneath you (in skill-level and general knowledge).
