The driver supports Synaptics and ALPS touchpads for certain and likely ElanTech.

It would be easy to test by enabling a parameter (tap to click is not enabled by default) which I think you can do directly from the command line. An example is here

Edit: I looked at your dmesg and the touchpad driver is not being recognized

Yet it sounds like it is recognized. Can you do two finger scrolling ?(enable by default) on most touch pads?
