More accurately, newbies flinch when they are presented with questions in which there are no default answers they can accept.
It is important to remember that the targeted users of the OpenBSD Project are the developers themselves. They just happen to be altruistic enough to release their work to the rest of us heathens to use too.
Although the installer
may appear daunting to the newbie, it is actually preferred by the community. Once one understands what information is required & what configuration is desired, OpenBSD can be installed in less than 5 minutes on most platforms. I don't believe most GUI-based installers can make the same claim.
