Is forcing media type "a bad idea" because it reduces flexibility, or something else.

All I could get from faq (http://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq6.html#Setup.if) was:

Googling elsewhere got me nothing.

The duplex thing I get, but what might happen if I botch my transfer rates? Something harmful, or just limiting?

Thanks for the tip; I had the same issue and forcing the transfer rate solved it.
