Default clarifying the role of OpenBSD's tech@ mailing list

Those who regularly read OpenBSD's mailing lists & those who would like to better understand the project's culture will be interested in the following message posted today by project developer Henning Brauer:

In short, to improve communication between active & inactive project developers, the tech@ mailing list will be used for more posting, sharing, & discussion of code diffs. Those with more general questions which do not include code diffs should post on misc@.

This isn't a radical departure from previous policy; rather, this is a refinement of existing procedure to help keep project developers informed to the activities of other developers.

Recognize that the mailing lists are meant for communication amongst the developers -- not forums available to the public wanting support or requesting feature or project policy changes. The OpenBSD project functions differently than most other Open Source projects. OpenBSD is a project managed by project developers for themselves as the target audience. For those questioning this meaning, study the project goals at the following:

...for clarification.
