Default Skype and keyboard indicator

Hello guys. I have two questions at once, and I thought there is no reason to start two separate threads.
1 - I successfully installed skype (via ports). It launches and connects to the network alright. But I have no sound at all. When I try "Make a test call" it returns "Problem with audio playback". In section "sound devices" I have:
Sound in - /dev/dsp (or /dev/dsp0)
Sound out - same as above
Ringing - same as above
But there are no such files in /dev directory, only /dev/dsp0.0 and /dev/dsp0.1 . Should I add to /etc/devfs.conf something like this?
Code:
link some_file dsp
2 - This one is not very important really. I am using 3 keyboard layouts (English, Armenian and Russian) and I wandered is there a layout indicator which can be used with fbpanel or pypanel?
P.S. I know that gnome-panel and xfce4-panel have such plugins but I want to build my own DE with openbox and fbpanel.
