Interrupt routing issues always concern me.. boot into the UKC and disable apm, this will force the system to use acpi instead.
I have a similar system, look in the BIOS for an option to enable APIC instead of PIC, and if you see any options related to "Plug and Play OS, PnP OS", set that to "No/False".
