Well, you can report the problem to the mailing lists if you want a more decisive answer, but before abandoning OpenBSD entirely, think of a possible alternative solution.
This system has a USB 1.0 controller, you could find a USB sound card (..speakers/headphones), these are generally supported by the
uaudio(4) driver.
Would that be possible? or is buying additional hardware out of the question?
