I did find this entry in ports/x11/fvwm2 "- stop explaining how to add fvwm2 to xinitrc, and remove some more obvious
bits."
Here is what I did: I created a .xinitrc file in my home directory and populated IT with the example found in the xinit man page. I then simply replace twm with fvwm2.
All seems to work but not sure why. Also, when I issue startx /usr/local/bin/fvwm2 it seems to work.
The why??? Is the most important thing to me.
Who needs luminosity ??
