So long as the primary colour is not white, nor black, I'm okay with it. There's nothing worse than looking at a black-on-white screen, or a white-on-black screen. It's very hard on the eyes.
Soft colours, with grey-ish backgrounds (similar to the current theme), is much easier on the eyes, and much easier to look at for more than 30 seconds at a time.
