Default patch application for usb mouse?

Hi, I am new to freebsd so please be easy.

I have a usb wired mouse which will not work with freebsd 7.0; the microsoft comfort optical mouse 3000, model 1043.

A search of the freebsd site led to this link:

http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=usb/128760

Do I need to download and apply this patch? If yes, then how so?

Man patch led to some pretty heady stuff, but nothing about how and where to apply a patch.

Thanks!

Default

Yes, you will need this patchfor your mouse to work.

To apply it:
# cd /usr/src/sys/dev/usb/ && patch < ~/patchfile

You will then have to recompile your kernel, world isn't needed (But remember to keep kernel&world in sync).
