Default Reboot loop on 7.0 upgraded to 7.1

I have upgraded 9 other servers so I think I know what i'm doing by now.
But this one is giving problems.

After installing the new kernel and reboot, server will get stuck in a reboot loop.
It will start loading freebsd then reboot and start over.
Nothing is logged anywhere about the problem.

The server current kernel is FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE-p7 amd64 GENERIC.
I'm building the kernel from source.

If i restore old kernel it works again.

Does anyone know how to at least get it to log something about why it wont work or how to find what the problem is?
